Cost of building Passive House compare to conventional,

Extraordinary homes

Even though many people might think to build a high-performance building is expensive, but it is not.

Starting from preconstruction, the cost to hire the designer and most of the consultants will be %15

over a regular house.

The modelling, inspections, door blow tests, and certification costs are

varied depends on the size of the project.

During construction, the extra material won’t be a considerable cost, but hiring the trained labour

will be more than regular construction.

There are some savings on heating and cooling system.

The HRV unit used in a Passive House is more costly.

The windows and exterior doors will be 15 to 20% more.

The overall upfront cost is 15% above average construction, but as I mentioned, it’s like someone buying an electric car with better performance than a gasoline car. The electric car costs more upfront; however, there won’t be the monthly costs of gasoline nor related maintenance costs.

If the client has a limited budget, they can reduce the

finishing budget to recoup the cost of a

High-performance building.
